Newcastle Pride is returning in 2026 on 25th & 26th of July. After 17 incredible years shaped by registered charity Northern Pride, the festival steps into an exciting new chapter led by Curious Futures, a not for profit company part of Curious Arts.

2026 promises a return to the city centre, city-wide celebrations and a Pride weekend designed with the community at its heart.

Community and stakeholder consultations launch soon, with further details about the Festival weekend, including the free programme, dedicated zones and a range of activities, will be released in the new year, whilst tickets for the Pride Arena at Times Square are now on sale.

We are proud to share that Newcastle Pride will enter an exciting new era from 2026, delivered by Curious Futures, part of the Curious Arts family.

After 17 unforgettable years of growth, resilience and celebration, this transition marks a bright and intentional step forward for the festival we all love.
Northern Pride has now formally closed after completing all commitments and donating our remaining funds, along with all physical and digital assets, to Curious Futures.

This is a positive move that ensures Newcastle Pride has the stability, creativity and long-term support it needs to continue thriving for our community.
We want to thank every single person who has supported us over the years. Volunteers, partners, artists, funders, venues, emergency services, organisations and our incredible community. You shaped this journey and helped make Pride what it is today.

The next chapter begins with the 2026 city-wide festival weekend, taking place on 25 and 26 July.

🏳️‍⚧️ Transgender Day of Remembrance 🏳️‍⚧️

Today, Northern Pride stands in remembrance of every trans person whose life has been taken by anti-trans violence and bigotry. TDOR is a moment to honour those we’ve lost, and a reminder of the urgent need to protect, uplift and defend our trans community.

As TDOR founder Gwendolyn Ann Smith states:
“Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence… With so many seeking to erase transgender people — sometimes in the most brutal ways possible — it is vitally important that those we lose are remembered, and that we continue to fight for justice.”

Today and every day, Northern Pride stands with trans people across the North East and beyond.

We remember. We resist. We continue the fight for justice, safety and equality.

Trans Day of Remembrance 2025

This is an indoor service, in which you will be given wax candles upon leaving for reflection.

Join us at One Strawberry Lane, doors 6pm and service starting 6:30pm where we take time to reflect, remember, and show solidarity to transgender, non binary and gender diverse individuals who have lost their lives to violence this year. Service ends by 8pm.

Gender neutral toilets are provided, with tea and coffee. The venue is adapted for wheelchair access and inclusive architecture, but please contact liam@be-north.org.uk for further information around access.

🏳️‍⚧️ Transgender Awareness Week 🏳️‍⚧️

Every year, from November 13–19, people and organisations across the country observe Transgender Awareness Week to raise understanding of transgender people and the challenges the community faces.

Trans Awareness Week leads up to Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) on November 20, an annual day of observance that honors the memory of transgender individuals whose lives were tragically lost to anti-transgender violence over the past year.

Tyneside cinema are teaming up with Queer East Festival 2025 and are screening two films from their programme.

The cross-disciplinary festival showcases boundary-pushing LGBTQ+ cinema, live arts, and moving image work from East and Southeast Asia and its diaspora communities.
